Beyond Ourselves’

We believe that Jesus’ command to his disciples to take the good news of God’s love and life-changing power to all the world applies to us today.  So as well as reaching out to those in our neighbourhood and parish, it is right that we should be involved in God’s mission “beyond ourselves” - in the wider world.

How?

  • By giving  – to specific missions and Christian charities. At home and abroad.

  • By praying  – magasines, prayer letters, e-mails and visits help us to keep informed

  • By going – anything from voluteering with a local charity to serving overseas to ordination

Who?

These are the missions and charities we have chosen to support.

  • Tearfund   Through Tearfund and their national partner organisation,Sagoal, we support the work of the church in Nepal, especially in Beni.

  • The Bethany Children’s Trust    The Director, Susie Howe, is a relative of one of our members. The trust is involved in strengthening churches and Christian projects that care for vulnerable children around the world, especially in response to the HIV/AIDS crisis in Africa.

  • Mill Grove    This unique extended family and residential community in South Woodford provides a place of love and care for children and young people who cannot live with their own families and for families at times of difficulty or crisis.

  • St Saviour’s Priory, Haggerston, E2    This community provides care and practical support for homeless and disadvantaged people in the East End of London.

In addition, we also support Christian Aid Week every May and may respond to other urgent disaster appeals, we promote the work of StopThe Traffik in combatting people trafficking, and use Fair Trade products wherever possible.
